Hello,
Thanks for coming to my page! There is an urgent need to expand the services available to the growing number of people affected by epilepsy in Australia. In my 8 years with Epilepsy Action Australia I have come to know and understand the needs of some amazing people whose lives are seriously impacted by epilepsy. I wanted to show leadership on this trek of the Great Wall of China in September this year to help Epilepsy Action Australia reach more Australians and raise the awareness and understanding of epilepsy in the community.
I also decided to make this fundraising effort for personal reasons. Some of you will know that I have faced serious illness over the past 18 months. It has been a time to reflect on those things that are truly important in my life - my beloved family, dear friends, and my commitment to try to help those less fortunate than me.
With some effort in training, I hope that I can get my fitness levels up for this trip because I am also doing it in honour of my darling brother Bill. Having lived well and happy for most of his life, with epilepsy and an intellectual disability, last year at 75 years of age he suffered a stroke and lost his mobility and speech. He has moved to a nursing home very close to my home and he enriches my life and my kids' lives, and he inspires me, because again he has learned to be happy.
This is a great cause, and I commit to it on both a personal and professional level. I have been overwhelmed by support already given by my colleagues and friends, and I am raising my target to $10,000 (having surpassed my previous $5,000 target). Through this page, you too can easily support my efforts by making a secure donation.
I would also really appreciate it if you could share my page above or comment below so more people know about it.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a DGR receipt via email as soon as you make a donation.
Thanks so much for your support!
